Another mediocre week from the boyz.... Zip Zalapski took $5 from Bubba
and
$5 from BZer this week on a tie breaker win, with all 3 hitting at 7-7.
The year end pott grows by $25 to $200 for the year. BZer retains
the
overall lead with another good week. With some dismal numbers this
week,
we now have some separation between the top 4 players and the bottom 4
players.
We have a new record for worst week in the 5 year history of the the
Challenge.... BD Copson went 1-13 for the week, putting up an O-fer at the
1 o'clocks. Fortunately for the BD, we are still early in the season
and
plenty of time remains to make up games.
Reversal plays had a stellar week as 1D (1 Different) plays went 4-0 with
winners on Miami, Clev, SF and Denver. This brings the 1D Reversal
plays
to 6-1 on the season

Montross remains hot on the tail of BZ as both competitors continue to hit
games at a solid pace. MM and LL tied the week, games and tie
breaker,
and each get their $5 back, while the year end pott grows by $30 to $205.
Another competitor joined the "lower" class of the league as Bubba put up
an ugly number, going 3-11, and opening up a dog-fight for the last
playoff
spot (which BD holds based on PVS). Still early in the season, but
BZ,
Montross and Rock seem to have in on cruise control right now. We'll
have
to wait and see if any of the bottom 8 can make a run to secure the final
playoff spot. Lots of games to be played!!
1D reversal plays were 0-1 with a loser on Tennessee. That brings
the 1D
reversals to 6-2 on the season.

Montross continues on his hot pace, currently 42-32 (a solid 56.8%) on the
season, hitting for 10 wins this week and taking a $5 spot from Esta on
the
points last night. More importantly, MM overtook BZ to lead the
pack. The
year end pool grows by $30 to $235. This upcoming week,
Montross will
attempt to tie a record he co-holds with LL, 5 weeks with 8 wins or more
against the spread. Monty has used his draft picks and farm team
well over
the years... after finishing 2nd to last in 2000 and 2001, and a last
place
finish in 2002, Monty made the playoffs in both 2003 and 2004, coming in
3rd and 1st, respectively, and has now reclaimed the top spot again.
Other notables: BZer struggled to close the week, going O-fer-6 on the
last
6 games to finish 5-9. The rest of the group finished around the 50%
mark.
On a more serious note, scandal has once again hit the Loser's Club.
Its
been quiet at the club for some time now, however, it was announced this
morning that the grand jury is currently reviewing the evidence in a case
to bring charges against LL Ligenza. Our insiders are saying the
grand
jury has credible evidence in front of them that LL entered a 2nd set of
picks at 5:08pm on Sunday, changing all the 1 o'clock games to winners.
In a press conference earlier this morning, LL stated his intentions to
plead "not guilty" if any charges are brought against him, but would not
provide any further details on his alibi. Currently, LL's original
picks
stand with a 7-7 record.
It is hard to speculate whether there will be enough evidence to make a
case or whether the grand jury will want to risk dragging the Loser's Club
name through the mud with another scandal. It is not out of the
realm of
possibilites that Board slaps a game or two suspension on LL just to make
an example of him. Zip Zalapski, builder of the web based picks
application commented, " I questioned whether it was necessary to add a
time stamp to the process, with the prestige of this Club I never thought
it would come to an event like this.... maybe the competition got the best
of LL, maybe it was sabotage, my only hope is that we can uncover the
truth
in this situation without comprosing the integrity of the Club."
Reversalplays:
1 Different plays went 1-2 with a winner on Seattle and losers on N.O. and
Atlanta, currently stand at 7-3 on the season

Roxie cashed his first week of the season, hitting at a solid 9-5 in a
week
where the rest of the group had a hard time hitting at 50%. Roxie
pulled
into a tie with MM atop the leader board as continues an absolutely solid
run, hitting for 8 wins or more in 5 of 6 weeks this season.
Zip Zalapski
continues to spiral hitting for just 4 wins on the week, the second time
this season he has hit for less than 5 wins. The carryover remains
at
$235.
Well, when it rains, it pours... we've had our second violation in as many
weeks with Montross Montessi registering his picks at 1:13pm on Sunday.
The evidence has been presented to the grand jury. Grand Master Zip
Zalapski walked out of a closed door session this morning with a
disappointed look on his face stating, "it is disappointing that club
members continue to push the boundaries of fair play. As I said last
week,
I only hope the integrity of the club is not compromised by this event."
Montross Montessi agent published the following comment this morning, "
Mr.
Montessi regrets the fact that his picks were input after the 1:00
deadline, however, Mr. Montessi made every attempt to contact the
commissioner to inform him of his equipment malfunction while entering his
picks. The evidence will show that Mr. Montessi did indeed
communicate
this issue at approximately 1:00 on Sunday."
More details of the LL scandal have been made public. Rumors of LL's
alibi
were that he had asked a "significant other", to remain nameless, to pull
up the picks on the website and that this "significant other" then ran
into
problems with the link to get all picks. The story continues that
she
realized if she entered picks again, she would then get the confirmation
page and a different link to view all picks, so she did it. District
attorney Esta Carrier has publicly said, "something stinks here, something
is just not making sense." The DA went on to say,"all the picks for
the 1
o'clock games were put in as winners. So you're telling me that this
significant other is a bookie too, that she knew all the spreads, and
scores of the games? JUST LET ME GET HER ON THE STAND, I CAN BREAK
HER, I
KNOW I CAN." Some heated words from the D.A. The grand jury
continues to
deliberate on the whether there is enough evidence to bring the case
against LL. Stay tuned.....
Reversal Plays
1 Different (1D) Reversal plays swept the board at 3-0 with winners on New
Orleans, Balt and Denver, bringing the season record to 10-3.

Sorry boyz, short write-up, real busy at work this week.
Rock won $5 off of the BD on the tie breaker. The year end pott goes
up
$30 to $265. Roxie moves into sole possession of first place.
BD moves
into a playoff position based on PVS versus Esta.
No Reversal plays to note.
Poker Playoff III
I wanted to check in with everyone and see if we should postpone the PPIII.
I have drinks after work that I have to go to, so I probably wouldn't get
to Schwag until 9, then get home by 2-3am and then work and drive back
Friday night. Roxie has the party to set up for.... Le bonnet has
put a
hurting on a few of the members recently.... BD, do you have to work??
I'll make the effort to get there if everybody is still in.... let me
know.
We could do it around Thanksgiving if people will be in town. I will
be
there from Wednesday night til Sat-day most likely.
Let me know

BD Copson continues his climb in the standings, putting up a solid 9-5
week
and moving into 3rd place ahead of BZer. Since hitting for the worst
1
week record (1 win) in week 13, BD has gone 40-30, a 57% winning
percentage
to get right back in the thick of things (7 wins or better in each of the
last 5 weeks). The remainder of the group struggled, hitting at 7-7
or
worse. The year end pott remains at $265. Tough year going for
the
Loser's Club, as year-to-date, only 2 cappers are narrowly staying above
the 50% winning percentage. In 2004, 5 of 8 cappers finished at 50%
or
better, while in 2003 it was 6 out of 8.
LL's case avoided a trial this past weekend and went straight to
arbitration. District Attorney Esta Carrier had his way with some of
the
witnesses but was unable sway the judge, who ruled in favor of LL that his
initial set of picks were in on time and no evidence was presented that LL
manipulated the system to change any of his original picks.
Montross Montessi's case was thrown out of court do to the fact that
Montross actually would have done better if the fine imposed (all away
teams) was enforced. Legislation in the Club is already brewing to
be
brought to the body prior to next year. Exact legal terminology is
still
being reviewed by council, but it is has been leaked to the press that the
legislation will include a clause that states "any late picks will be
given
the lesser of the results of all away teams or the member's late picks
MINUS 2 GAMES." The new rule has been nicknamed the "MM
Late ATM Run
Rule". Some say that the name came about because of Montross
continually
waits until the last minute to hit the ATM prior to doing anything with
the
boyz and was the first person to go over the 1:00 deadline in the history
of the league. We're actually expecting this bill to move through
Congress
rather quickly as many of the members are tired of having the reputation
of
the club dragged through the mud.
PPIII Update. Poker Playoff III is still scheduled for the night of
Thanksgiving, we will confirm the date as we get closer to T-Giving.
Reversal plays:
1D reversal plays went 1-2 on the day, losers on Cleve and San Diego,

Finally, a few respectable numbers put up by the TF Groups members, as
both
Esta and Bubba hit for 10 win weeks with Bubba taking $5 from Esta on the
tie breaker. Unfortunately, we had some ugly numbers too and those
were
put up by our leaders. What a difference a week can make for the
standings. What looked like a cake walk to the playoffs for the top
3
spots has turned considerably into an all-out race by all members (minus
Zip). BD Cropson has taken over the top spot and had it not been for
a
all-time TF Group record low week in week 3 (1 win), BD would be running
away with the regular season title. At 65-65, just a 50%
record, BD leads
a group of cappers with disappointing results for the 2005 season.
Another week, another violation of the The TF Group Rules and Regulations.
Bubba "Two Team's" time stamp read 1:05:35pm... once again testing the
integrity of the club. Bubba release a statement yesterday saying:
"Anyone who has to babysit their own 1 year-old should be cut some slack"
(I believe this is in the by-laws -Section 37; Article 17..)
One TF Group member, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, "what kind of
a sick and demented father would blame his own judgement lapses on an
innocent 1 year old, this just makes me sick." BZer fired out with,
"YEA,
she got blamed last week for leaving an empty beer bottle on the kitchen
counter." All the outbursts just go to show that TF members
continue to
vent their frustrations on the violations, yet they keep on occuring.
The
truth will come clean at the annual TF Group voting when members will be
given a strict bill on penalties for late picks, if it passes we know the
group means business, if it fails, it could be anarchy.
Currently, the LC
Grand Jury is reviewing the evidence in the case against Bubba and will
likely make a statement next week. Fortunately for Bubba, away teams
put
up 9 wins.
PPIII Update: Looks like all competitors have confirmed to
play PPIII on
Thanksgiving night (except LL and MM).... at a minimum it looks like a
caad
game will be played at that time.
Year end pott grows by $30 to $295.
No reversal plays to note.

Bubba "2-Team" has broken out, hitting for 10 wins for the 2nd consecutive
week. Bubba took the cash with a Dallas victory and slipped into the
final
playoff spot for the time being as his PVS is 38 points better than Esta's.
The carry over remains at $295. Standings remain pretty tight as BD
holds
onto first, with the next 6 competitors only 6 games back.
Only Zip
Zalapski is starting to think about golfing in the off-season. After
making the playoffs the past 3 seasons, it looks like Zip's team is really
starting to age a bit, maybe time to start looking at the free agents and
the draft. BD Copson continues his hot pace, hit for 9 wins and this
weekend will attempt to tie the record for "consecutive weeks with 8 wins
or better vs the spread" at 5 weeks (LL 2003, MM 2004)
Another week and yet ANOTHER violation of league policy. Roxie's
picks
were entered after the 1:00pm deadline at 1:04:18. Members of the LC
agreed prior to the season to have picks in by 1:00 and yet there seems to
be consistent violations week to week. Roxie has not been reached
for a
comment.
In other league news, Bubba Barbarini continues to fight his violation
last
week, presenting evidence to the Grand Jury that the time stamp on the RSA
server is actually 5+ minutes behind. Bubba went into the court room
with
a hard line of questioning for the technicians at the RSA server.
The LC
Prosecution has not yet had an independent source check the caliberation
of
the time, however, our understanding is the systems guru Montross Montessi
will be called to either confirm or deny Bubba's evidence. Should
Bubba
prove his case, Constantino Rocca may choose to file a similar grievance.
Reversal plays:
1D reversals went 1-1 with a winner on Buffalo and a loser on the Jets.
We had our first All The Same reversal play (ATS)of the season and it lost
as everybody had a winner with Detroit.

Luck Laru took down a 5 spot from Esta by beating him by 1 point on the
PVS
Monday night. Carryover grows by $30 to $325 for the year.
Pretty tight
week and not much movement in the standings... looks like it could be a 6
man race for the rest of the season as the BZer dropped another couple of
games and sits 7 out. BZer has struggled after coming out of the
gates
hot, as he has failed to hit for 8 wins in the past 7 weeks. BD just
missed tying the record for consecutive weeks at 8 or more wins against
the
spread with only 7 wins. BD commented in the locker room, "it isn't
about
the individual statistics, we held onto first place and our playoff
position, that is the only thing that matters." Esta's 9 win week
pushed
him into the playoff picture, sitting just one back of the lead.
Bubba
2-Team fell out of the playoff picture as Montross's PVS of 84 dominates
Bubba's 115. This is the time of the year where PVS really can
become a
factor.
Current PVS
84 Montross
97 BD
97 Zip
101 Rock
101 LL
115 Bubba
130 BZer
156 Esta
All outstanding violations have been dropped by the grand jury.
There was
sufficient evidence that there is a 5 minute difference in the timing of
the web server and the actually time so the charges against Bubba were
dropped. Consequently, the violation against Roxie was dismissed as
well.
Reversalplays were 1-0 with Tampa... taking them to 13-6 on the year

Zip Zalapski is already on vacation for the week... marked the points
because I knew Esta and LL tied, but forgot to mark the game... which had
some pretty big implications... that's what the "Eyes and Ears" of this
organization - Esta Carrier are for. Guy always has his eyes on
everything.
Esta moves into a tie for first and Bubba retains his playoff spot with
Monty and LL looking in from the outside by 1 game.

LL scrapes a $5 spot from the BD on the tiebreaker with his 2nd consecutive
10 win week, moving him into 2nd place, 3 games behind BD. The carryover
grows by $30 to $355. BD continues to keep it on cruise control, hitting
at 8 wins or better in 5 out of the last 6 weeks. I don't think anyone
would have predicted BD would be leading the pack after hitting for just 1
win in week 3. Bubba and Rock round out the current playoff picture with
Monty looking in at 1 game back. Esta Carrier dropped like a rock this
week, hitting for just 3 wins and falling out of the playoff picture, 2
back of the last spot.
Bubba Barbarini currently has 4 consecutive weeks at 8 wins or better and
will try to tie LL (2003) and MM (2004) for the record.
LL has 3 consecutive weeks at 9 wins or better vs the spread and will try
to tie Zip's record of 4 weeks set in 2004.
Currently, Zip and Esta are on pace to join Rock (2000), Ms. Woods (2001)
and Bubba (2003) with seasons of winning no cabbage.
We've decided to open and track a new record for the NFL Challenge. Most
consecutive weeks below 8 wins vs the spread. Zip Zalapski has somehow
managed to go 8 weeks hitting less than 8 wins... quite impressive and we
thought it was worth tracking.
With BD catching the Zipper's mistake on week 8 PVS... we have a new PVS
list below... pretty tight for some of the playoff contenders, could get
interesting
111 Montross
115 LL
117 Zip
126 BD
130 Bubba
130 Rock
151 BZer
171 Esta
Reversalplays went 2-0 in the pool however, the Buffalo reversalplay
actually lost to the book due to line movement, so for the record we'll put
the plays at 1-1 this week, taking the plays to 14-7 on the season.
In other TF news, thanks to Bubba for hosting the PPIII, LL for sticking
around to play the tourney, and congratulations to Zip for taking it down.

After 7 out of 8 weeks hitting below 8 wins, BZ came to life just in time
for the home stretch, hitting at 12-4, taking the cash, and more
importantly now sits just 2 back of the playoffs. The race for the regular
season championship and the playoffs is tight. BD barely hangs on to the
top spot for another week with a 9-7 record, while Bubba sits right on his
coat-tails with an 11-5 week, just 1 back of the BD. Roxie tried to
solidify his playoff spot with a 11 win week and sits just 2 back. LL
remains in the playoff picture with a 9-7 record. On a side note, LL tied
Zip Zalapski's 2004 record of consecutive weeks at 9 wins or better vs the
spread, we'll have to see if LL can take the record outright this week.
Roxie, LL and Bubba all currently have a shot to become the first person to
have 2 NFL Challenges under their belts. Zip Zalapski finally broke his
string of below 8 win weeks with a 9-7 showing (his record goes down in the
books at 8 weeks) and now has some company at the bottom of the pack as
Esta has a combined 8 wins in the last 2 weeks. Montross Montessi took a
chance and rolled the dice with all the away teams, coming out unscathed
with a 9-7 showing and sits 2 games out of the playoff hunt.
Unfortunately, we have yet ANOTHER violation of league policy. LL's picks
were in at 1:07 and 23 seconds. League officials are puzzled and concerned
at the lack of respect for the league rules and are meeting this morning to
deal with a 2nd time offender. LL's attorneys have already stated
that
the time stamp is not calibrated with the official time, however, we
question if this defense will hold as the precedent set by the Bubba
Barbarini case put that time difference at 5 mins.
Pool pott stands at 355, with 90 for first and 265 for the Champ
4 weeks to go, GL!!!
Reversalplays:
Our 2nd ATS (all the same) reversal play of the season was a loser on New

Constantino Rocca has picked
the best time to get hot, hitting for 10 wins or more 3 out of the last 4 weeks.
Roxie swept the Sunday and Monday night games to come from behind and take the
cash once again. More importantly, Roxie opened up a 4 game lead on his nearest
competitor and needs to just get through 1 more week to earn the regular season
title and a piece of the year end pott. The spotlight has to remain on the BD,
hitting at just 6-10, BD dropped into third spot (behind Bubba on PVS) and now
sits 4 games out of 1st. Another 6 win or less week and BD may once again be the
one looking in at the playoff picture from the outside.
BZer Zielinski picked up a
huge game on LL, going 9-7 vs LL's 8-8. BZer bumped LL from the playoff picture
with 1 week to go. As writer of the weekly article, I have to apologize for some
incorrect information. We stated that BZer was 16 points behind LL in PVS...
unfortunately it was actually 36 points behind. Zip Zalapski has had some tough
times with the write-ups and the pools this season! BZer picked up 11 points on
PVS this week but is still 25 points behind LL and realistically needs to tie LL
next week and maintain the game advantage to make the playoffs.
MM recovered from last weeks 4
win week with 9 wins, but will need some monster numbers in Week 17 to catch
either BZer or LL for the last spot, needing to pick up 4 games. MM has the best
PVS, so mathematically he is still alive. Bubba 2-Team is quietly maintaining a
solid showing and looking forward to a playoff run, hitting at 8-8.
Zippy and Esta were unable to
hit for the cash this week and now have only 1 more chance to win some cash and
avoid the record books of non-cash winning seasons. They also continue to do
battle for the cellar, tying this week at 7-9. Esta has a 2 game lead on Zip
going into the final week.

Congratulations to Roxie Rocca, our 2005 NFL Challenge Regular Season Champ.
Roxie was our most solid capper for the year. What went un-noticed in the final
5 weeks with all the playoff jockeying, is that Roxie hit for 9 wins or more vs
the spread for 5 consecutive weeks, breaking the record set by Zip in 2004 and
tied by LL in 2005. Talk about going into the playoffs on the right note. Roxie
takes home $95 for his strong effort.
In playoff news, BZer Zielinski went back to his roots, going with the HOME-Team
offense in the final week to hit at 10-6, taking a super-mini-nick from BD and
Bubz on the tie breaker. The year end pott grows by 25 to $380. The playoff
contenders tried to show their muscle this week as Roxie hit for 9, BD and Bubz
for 10, which should make for some exciting playoff battles. Good luck to all
playoff contenders, congrulations on a successful 2005 capping season. All 4
playoff contenders finished the season at better than 50% winning percentage,
while the non-playoff members were all below 50%.
At the 2005 PPIII, we defined the "equator" and it is interesting to note that 3
out of 4 "North of the Border" members are in the playoffs. If not for a late
season rut that Esta fell into, we could have had a 4 fer 4 showing. The "South
of the Border Boyz" had trouble, LL stumbled the final 4 weeks, hitting for 8
wins or less, while MM's 4 win week in week 15 ultimately dropped him out of
contention. Esta Carrier fell hard from 1st place, hitting for 3, 5 and 4 wins
in weeks 12-14. Zip Zalapski started out with a 3 win week in week 1 and just
never got going, coming in the cellar at 24 games back.
Good luck to all, the 2005 NFL Challenge Champion will take home a cool $285 and
more importantly, a TF Major! For all playoff contenders, this is a reminder
that we run on the HONOR SYSTEM... to keep the integrity of the Club, please DO
NOT review other members picks prior to making your own picks!!! If you ain't
got integrity, you ain't got nothing. I will post the games on Thursday night,
picks are due for all games by the first game on Saturday. GL!

Well, we mentioned it last week, Constantino Rocca came into the playoffs
red-hot, hitting for 9 wins or more the final 5 weeks and setting a new TF
group record. Roxie continued his record setting pace in the Wildcard
Weekend, hitting at 4-0. Since the addition of the playoff format in 2002,
we have never had a competitor sweep the first weekend (even with no
spreads in 2002). Bubba 2-Team, the leader in TF Group Majors with 5,
looks to create some room on that list (currently 3 players with 4 Majors),
sitting just 1 game back of Roxie and holding a 7 point edge in PVS. BZer
and BD have some work to do, but remember, there is still much action to
go. In 2004, Zip Zalapski was 2 games back after the first weekend and
went 6-0 to catch Esta, only to lose at the Super Bowl. In 2003, Roxie
found himself 2 games back with just 3 games to go, in unbelievable-Roxie
fashion, he was able to make up the 2 games and win on PVS for the
Championship.
A dejected Bahter Copson really sounded off at the press conference after
the games, lashing out at his playoff opponents:
I gotta talk smack about you rodds on that first game.
I'm the only tool who took TB, so yeah, I'm the only tool with an "L", but
DAME, Roxie, Bubz and BZer are lucky!!! Just showing me what life is like
north of the equator!!! Wash gained a TOTAL of 124 yards in the game!!!!!!
25 passing yards. This is the lowest yardage total in NFL HISTORY by a
winning team!!!!! Defensive scores are wonderful, huh? Man, guess
everybody should load house the Pats, cuz once again I am the only one with
Jax and the 3 on the other side of the line have Pats. Geesh, might as
well not even pick the rest of the challenge if this is how it's gonna go.
And TB was the only home team I took all weekend too, so I'm prob.
smizzled.
Games will be posted Thursday, picks due by 4:30 on Saturday.... to keep
the integrity of the club in check, either put the picks in over the web or
e-mail me your picks by at least an hour before kick-off (so I receive
them) and I will post them to the web as the first game goes off (without
penalty).

We usually save the regular season weeks to have a section on featured
players, but I think an exception is in order. This week we feature
Constantino Rocca, who has put up one of the greatest stretches the league
has ever seen. We go back to Week 12 where Roxie sat in 4th place, 4 games
back of the BD... and that is when it all began. Roxie set a new TF Group
record with 5 consecutive weeks at 9 wins or better versus the spread.
Roxie went 50-30 the last 5 weeks, a 62.5% clip to take the regular season
championship. Since entering the post-season, Roxie has been nothing short
of spectacular, going 7-1, an outstanding 87.5% run. Roxie needs just one
cover in the last 3 games of the playoffs to lock up his 2nd NFL Challenge
and 2nd TF Group Major.
For the rest of the contenders, BD has been mathematically eliminated with
his 3-5 showing, while Bubba and BZer have a very difficult task. They
need 1) not match roxie on any picks and 2) win all 3 remaining games.
Both have good size leads in PVS so mathematically, they are still alive.
You know what they say, they play the games so that the miracle comebacks
can happen. If refs can call phantom pass interference calls, the
sure-handed "Bus" can fumble on the 3 yard line and one of the best kickers
in the league can miss a game tying FG, well, anything is possible.
