A look at the competition:

Larry “the legend” Ligenza:  A group “A” player who isn’t afraid of the press.  LL is known to hit the big dogg off the tee, but the second shot under a 100 yards is where he has his problems.  In a press conference earlier in the season, LL was quoted as saying “TankFest needs to up the competition or I will be the only name on the plaque.”  In a controversial ruling by the TankFest Board of Directors, the use of wacky-tabacky WILL NOT be illegal, as some competitors argued the use of the enhanced substance actually counter-acted the effects of the 4 beer minimum, giving LL an advantage.  This ruling was scene as a major key to a repeat by LL.

Twig Boliski:  A group B first year champion, Twig has taken time away from “the game” to reflect on life and start a family.  Rumors have it that Twig’s training has focused not as much on his golf techniques, but more on his beer drinking ability.  With the addition of BZer Zielinski, many of the competitors are trying to increase their tolerance.   Twig will definitely be a target this year as competitors overlooked him due to a late season hand injury at last year’s tourney.

BZer Zielinski:  Invited this year to increase the competition and gear the program more towards a beer chugging contest as much as a golf tourney.  When BZer was invited he commented, “I’m going to show these kids the definition of drinking buds and hitting the links.  Not only will I win this so-called tourney, I will do it in a convincing fashion.”   This guy just has too much experience to not make it to the finals.

Zip Zielinski:  We just don’t know if Zipper has the guts and the hands to hit the BIG putts.  A solid showing in TF2001 makes the competition keep an eye out on him, but most competitors don’t get too scared when they see him in their bracket.  Zipper loves to get controversial, and still is researching his theory of conspiracy at T1.  He believes that LL/Twig had paid a fan to sabotage the final match as Zipper/Esta were making a run with 2 holes to go.  Zippy stated, “The true colors will be scene in 2001, I will be crowned the true champion.”

Esta Carrier:  Esta may be the sleeper of the group, he has looked pretty solid in early sessions of 2001(not counting the 2 balls he was playing).   Esta’s endurance is in question though, as he has been labeled as a “lightweight”.  Competitors don’t think Esta can make it the distance to the championship.  The coverboy commonly known as “Hollywood” will be available for pictures and autographs at the clubhouse at 8:30 sharp.

Miker Montross:  You’ve gotta keep an eye on this sly cat.  His competitors keep a close eye on his beezer consumption (as well as his strokes) as he has been known to leave a few tree-knockers in his days.  He is definitely a hot/cold golfer who will need to be in sync with his partner to go the distance.  Currently Montross is delinquent on his Tour Card dues and will be charged a $15 (10 for b-ball pool, 5 for golf, still haven’t forgotten) late fee upon entrance to the tournament.

Constantino Rocca:  They call him the Rock,  “rock-solid.”  He puts in 110% all the time and remains the most solid B player on the tour.  Twinkle Toes almost put a hit out on his partner Montross after they blew a 1 hole lead going into the 9th hole last year, and again failed to come through in the overtime session.  The “hit”-factor can be monstrous, as competitors have a tough time wanting to beat this player, fearing the consequences.

Les Potter Copson:  Still bitter about the drawing last year, he led the push to up the player’s standard of play.  This guy has got the hands to putt to victory, but people question his mental game.  People know he’s got a soft spot when it comes to weatherman jokes.   A combination of jokes and beezers could be a problem for this young and distinguished popper.
