Poker Playoff V

The TankFest Group helds its 5th annual Poker Playoff, $100/man, No Limit Texas Hold 'Em Tournament on the eve of TFIX. The tourney was played almost 6 months after the turn of the year, June 5th, 2008, with Montross Montessi making the trek home from Cali to defend his title.

The tournament officially kicked off at 9:23pm after a Bruno's pie and a few lags at Esta's house.   The tourney prob would have started earlier except the TF Group made the mistake of telling Monty to get some ice before he came.  The tourney ended at 1:02am with Esta's taking down Zip after Zip had moved all-in after the flop (Zip's pocket 5's were no good as Esta had hit a K on the flop with his K-5).  Esta claimed his second Poker Playoff Championship and $350 in cash.  It is the first time a TF member captured a 2nd Poker Playoff title.

When they went 3 handed, it looked like BZer was on track to take down his first TF Title since 2002, but it was 2-out suck-out by Zip (pocket 4's and caught the set on the river) that did BZer in.  BZ would have had a significant chip lead over Esta had he knocked the Zipper out.  On this night it was not to be and BZer wasn't able to recover from a tough loss.

Members started with $1,250 in chips (Red=5 for $50, Blue=10 for $100, Green=25 for $100, Black=100 for $500 and Purple=500 for $500).

Here is how they finished up:
