We head back to our origin this year, as
Schwagawam Country Club will be the site where the 4th team in
history will raise the coveted TF Plaque. Once again, congratulations on
being selected to an elite class of 8 players for the 4th
Annual TankFest Invitational - Tournament of Champions. Some important
off-season votes will take effect on June 20th. Listed below
are the results of the April vote
Question 1: 5-3 in favor of changing the
format of the tournament
Question 2: 5-2 (1 abstain) in favor of picking teams ahead of time (if
all present)
Question 3: 7-1 in favor of abolishing the MVP
Question 4: 6-2 in favor of investing in a new trophy
Question 5: 7-0 (1 abstain) in favor of going back to Schwag
Question 6: 7-1 in favor of keeping the tournament as the Elite 8
Question 7: 4-4, there will be no limit imposed on how long a team can win
championships
Tourney III was another successful
tournament as we crowned our 3rd different champion in as many
years. It looked as if MM and Esta were on their way as they took care of
business on the front 9 against a strong LL/BZer team, winning 3 and 2.
After taking the first hole, BD and Rock struggled to find their rhythm
and fell to the eventual champions Zip and Bubba, losing 2 and 1. The
finals match was a roller coaster ride. Team Zip/Bubz came out smoking to
open up a 3 hole lead after 3, but Esta Big-Pop stuck a shot on the second
par 3 that turned the tides. Team Esta/MM took control of the momentum,
winning the next 3 holes and tying the match with 3 holes to play. It
took a big putt from the most unexpected player as Zippy “Hands of Steel”
buried a 20ft-er to take the 16th hole and Zip/Bubz went on to
win the 17th hole and take the championship, 2 and 1.
The tourney format changes this year on a close 5-3 vote.
It will remain a 2-man scramble, but the competition will switch from a
match-play format to a tournament-play format. Best team score through 18
holes will determine the champion with all ties settled with a playoff on
the putting green. Teams will be drawn at opening ceremonies/TF Eve with
the Zip/Bubz team staying together to defend their title. We’ll go with a
4-man group “A” and a 2-man group “B” using the following format. We will
try to re-shuffle the teams at the turn depending on current scores at
that time.

Tourney odds posted above; scouts see Montross Montessi as
the favorite to get the title back just on the pure amount of time he has
already put into his game this year. Returning champs come in as 3-1
favorites after getting blasted in their first pre-season warm-up match.
LCSN was able to provide an analysis for this year’s tourney once again,
please read what they had to say about you!
See you at the tourney,
